About the IKS

Contact Service for Innovation and Collaborations between Business and Science

The IKS Hamburg is the central point of contact for anyone interested in collaboration between business and science in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. We bring companies of all sizes, universities and research institutions together to work on joint technical or non-technical projects and shape the future together.

We match new knowledge from science and its business applications.  Our innovation network facilitates direct contacts with relevant scientific institutions and business sectors. Targeted alignment enables sciences and enterprises to jointly develop  new processes, products and services.

How the IKS Supports new Collaborations

We will help you to structure and concretise your project and, if required, assist you in drawing up a project outline. We design your collaboration between businesses and academic institutions based on the challenge at hand: Do you need access to laboratory equipment, insights from domain knowledge, an expert opinion, a contract research partner, academic studies or even the outsourcing of a development or experiments?  Each type of collaboration has different requirements and therefore a different shape  of collaboration.

We offer support as a sparring partner to discuss your ideas and opportunities for their realisation with collaboration partners.

We will work with you to select suitable project partners, facilitate initial discussions as required and support the project initiation phase.

We may accompany you in collaboration progress and adapt the intensity of our support to your needs.

We may assist as a neutral moderator in the event of diverging interests during the collaboration process.
